Star Talent Charles St. Paul Dance Band performed for an elegant wedding at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel in New York City.
The bride, a New Orleans’ native wanted a “Second Line” parade with impromptu jazz band to lead guests from cocktail reception though the hotel’s courtyard and over to the Grand Ballroom.
The Main Line Parade and The Second Line
The “main line” or “first line” is the main section of the parade or the members of the actual parade, as well as the brass band. Those who follow behind the brass band just to enjoy the music are called the “second line.” The second line’s style is traditional dance, in which participants walk and sometimes twirl a parasol or handkerchief in the air, participants are known as “second lining.”
